By Gideon C. Corgue

PAGADIAN CITY, August 8 (PIA) – In support to the greening project recently launched by PNP Director General Nicanor Bartolome dubbed “ Pulis Makakaliksan: Sampung Milyong Puno, Pamana sa Kinabukasan” requiring each PNP member in the county to plant six trees per month until February 28, 2013, the Pagadian City Police Office under the command of P/Supt. Kenneth Mission on Wednesday morning conducted a tree planting activity in barangay Kalasan here.

Administrative division chief, Inspector Gaspar Gadingan said 112 seedlings of mahogany and fruit-bearing trees were planted by 56 PNP personnel at a site selected by Punong Barangay Ramil Roma.

Gadingan said  a total of 1,680 seedlings were already planted in various barangays in 15 separate tree planting occasions since March this year.

“We are hoping to reach our goal of planting 10,000 trees until February 2013 to help mitigate the formidable effects of climate change ,” Gandingan was quoted as saying.

This activity, Gadingan said is also in support to the reforestation program of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, known as the National Greening Program.

Gandingan acknowledged the support of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources as their vital partner in the greening program by providing seedlings during the tree planting activities of the PNP. (JPA/GCC/PIA9-Zambosur)
