Peace and Order council convened

BAYOG, Zamboanga del Sur, July 16 (PIA) -- The Municipal Peace and Order Council of  Bayog, this province  convened over the weekend at the Glupa Gulian Agro Tourism Park to discuss the present peace and order situation of the municipality.

Before the council tackled the main agenda, Mayor Leonardo  Babasa, Jr., who is also the chairman, disclosed that he was invited in a meeting of the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB). In the said conference, they discussed about the existence of Monte de Oro Small Scale Miners Association (MOSSMA) where the Board  considered it as illegal mining operators, and that the Mine and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) will soon fully implement the Ceased and Desist Order signed by Mr. Raul Calumpang, Officer In-Charge of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB-IX).

In another meeting he attended in the province, is the Provincial Peace and Order Council Meeting last July 5, 2012  where Governor Antonio Cerilles proposes  the establishment of a company of SCAA (Special Civilian Active Auxiliary) composed of at least 50 members, in the municipalities of Bayog, Lakewood, Kumalarang, Tigbao, and Midsalip. The governor also  urged  these municipalities to pass a resolution to support such plan.

On the other hand, Col Tanggawon reported the numerous sightings of the New People’s Army (NPA) with specific dates, places, and activities conducted in the area. He urged the barangay leaders to report immediately any suspicious persons present in their respective barangays. “You know more than us because you are in your area”, he said.

Further he said, there will be military deployment in 15 barangays of the municipality by the end of this month. Activities to be conducted as soon as the military will come in are ceremonial send off/entrustment; training of Civilian Volunteer Officers (CVOs), and inventory of firearms together with the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The meeting was attended by  its regular members with some military officials headed by LTC Silver Linsangayan, Deputy Brigade Commander 102nd Brigade, Philippine Army (PA) together with LTC Victor Tanggawon, Commanding Officer, 53IB; Maj. Wilson Ajijul, Civil Military Operations  Officer 53IB; Cpt. John Kenneth Babica, CO, Bravo Company, 51IB, PA.
