DIPOLOG CITY, JUNE
15(PIA)---More or
less 1,600 consumers have availed of the discounted prices of basic commodities
sold during the June 12 Independence Day Diskwento Caravan in Dipolog City.
This
is the report of Engr. Noel Bazan, Provincial Director of the Department of Trade
and Industry, Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Office.
Bazan
said, the Diskwento Caravan was a joint undertaking of DTI, Dipolog City
Consumers Watch Group Inc., and the Local Government of Dipolog City, highlighting
the city’s 114th Philippine Independence Day celebration .
Lechon
manok usually sold at P120.00 to P165.00 were only sold at P68.00, P89.00 and
P99.00 depending on the size of the lechon. LPG-filled super kalan were sp;d at
P1,200.00 compared to the regular price of P1,800.00; fresh milk, eggs, canned
sardines, cooking oil, processed meat(ham,
luncheon meat, hotdog), coffee, cereals, chocolate drinks, breads, biscuits and
even cosmetics, and body care products were among the various products offered
at discounts ranging from 5% to 66%.
Fourteen
distributors and sellers participated in the Diskwento Caravan. These included
the distributors of Minola and Mitra Cooking Oil; CDO Products; San Miguel-Magnolia;
Sir Mike’s Potatoes; Earl’s Lechon Sarap; Tupperware Brands of JoyDave General
Merchandise; Polanco Farms and the Bagsakan ni Edad Fruit and Vegetable
Producers.
The
Diskwento Caravan were held at the Parking Area of the Dipolog City Public Market
and at the Bagsakan ni Edad, this city.(ATR/PIA9-Zambo
