DIPOLOG CITY, May
28 (PIA) - - Sports competitions will highlight the “99th Adlaw sa
Dipolog” (Dipolog Day) come July 1.
A press release
issued by the City Information Office (CIO) said the city government is going
to hold starting June 25 the following sports competitions for men and women,
namely, inter-office volleyball, basketball, table tennis and a fun run, which
is open to all government officials and employees with 10-kilometer race for
men and six-kilometer for women.
Dubbed as
“Panagsangka 2012,” the sports competitions are also designed to give color and
meaning to the pre-centennial celebration of Dipolog’s founding anniversary. It
became a municipality on July 1, 1913.
In a related
development, the city leadership is now preparing for the centennial countdown
which will officially start on July 1 this year.
To drum up public
awareness on the centenary of Dipolog, a number of activities have been lined
up to be held starting June 1 this year until July 1, 2013. (FPG/PIA-Zamboanga
