DIPOLOG CITY, May
10 (PIA) - - A training-workshop concerning Children in Conflict with Law (CCL)
was conducted here recently by the Department of Social Welfare and Development
(DSWD)-IX.
Participating in
said training were the officers and members of the barangay/municipal/city councils
for the protection of children, city/municipal personnel of the Department of
Interior and Local Government (DILG), personnel of the municipal/city social welfare
and development offices, barangay chairmen, councilors and secretaries from the
cities of Dipolog, Pagadian and Zamboanga, and the municipalities of Molave,
Zamboanga del Sur and Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte.
In her message
before the participants, Mayor Evelyn T. Uy underscored the importance of
knowledge sharing between and among all sectors in the society to come up with
a unified action on the issues and concerns affecting the children and young
women.
Ms. Ma. Socorro S.
Macaso of DSWD-IX, on the other hand, said the training was designed to review
and discuss the existing laws on children and youth and to identify the roles,
functions and duties every local government unit (LGU) with respect to social
protection.
The training also
sought to enhance the capabilities of those who are directly involved in
activities aimed at promoting and protecting the rights of children.
