Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur, April 2 (PIA) – As the entire nation celebrated the month of March as National Women’s Month, the local government unit of Bayog hold its own culmination program, last March 29, 2012 at the municipal swimming pool with the theme: “Women in Weathering Climate Change: Governance and Accountability Everyone’s Responsibility.”
Some 140 women from the municipality’s 28 barangays attended the program with 2nd District Representative Aurora Cerilles as guest of honor and speaker together with Provincial Agriculturist Marilyn Bersales.
In her message. Cong. Cerilles emphasized to the participants that there is now the so-called women empowerment, women should always bear in mind that they are now equal to men in any circumstances and power, not unlike before.
After the program, the lady representative distributed vegetables seeds to all participants and farm implements (garden tools) to barangay San Isidro as the pilot barangay for the implementation of their livelihood program, while the rest of the barangays will follow. Deworming tablets for kids were also given to the Rural Health Unit.
Meanwhile, Mayor Leonardo Babasa, Jr. expressed his thanks and gratitude to the congresswoman for gracing the occasion. (BAG/PIO-Bayog/PIA9/CAL)
