Dipolog-CHO beefs up campaign vs. HIV, STI, TB, smoking

by Franklin P. Gumapon

DIPOLOG CITY, March 3 (PIA) – The City Health Office (CHO) here has gone barangay to barangay to disseminate bits of information on Human Immuno Virus (HIV), Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), Tuberculosis (TB) and smoking-related diseases.

City Health Officer Cecilio Siglos disclosed that CHO personnel have recently conducted school forums on HIV, STI, TB and smoking in some high schools within the city.

Local legislations such as city ordinances 123 (anti-littering) and 196 (anti-smoking) have also been discussed during school forums.

Siglos underscored the importance of giving the public particularly the youth accurate information on the causes and preventions of the above illnesses so that they can protect themselves against them.

It can be recalled that the Department of Health (DOH) had reported last year that six persons from Zamboanga del Norte tested positive for HIV. (FPG/PIA-Zamboanga del Norte)
