Zamboanga City is a safe place says former Senator

by Jocelyn P. Alvarez

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Jan. 30 (PIA) – - Contrary to misperception about Zamboanga as a city in turmoil, former Senator Miguel Zubiri refuse to believe such, as he candidly said he feels safer here than in Manila.

City Information Officer (IO) Sheila Covarrubias said the young Zubiri made this statement during the 9th General Assembly of the PHL Federation of Local Council of Women (PFLCW) held in the city recently where Zubiri was guest speaker.

Zubiri feels that Zamboanga is a very safe city although few untoward incidents have stained her image, the active IO said.

Covarrubias informed, Zubiri has visited Zamboanga several times in the past and has only good words for the city.

Covarrubias said Zubiri finds the people of Zamboanga warm and the sites beautiful.

“This is what the Philippines should be,” quoted Covarrubias of Zubiri.

“Zamboanga, one of the oldest cities in Mindanao, is very rich in history and culture and remains to be one of the emerging cities in the region,” Covarrubias shared. (JPA/PIA-ZBST)
