‘Pasalamat’ festival 2012 a big success

PAGADIAN CITY, Jan. 17 (PIA) –- The 2012 ‘Pasalamat’ festival steering committee chairman Atty. Carlos M. Madarang III on Monday expressed his deep gratitude for the huge success of the week-long celebration of the festival which officially started on January 2-15 with this year’s theme “ Sto. Nino Kadasig sa Pagtoo, Kalauman sa Kinaiyahan, Kaluwasan sa Katawhan”.
Madarang said he was very happy for the support extended by the different committees which contributed to the great success of the event.
“I am very much elated with the success of the festival due to the wholehearted support and cooperation by extended Mayor Samuel Co and from the different committees which composed of the staff from the national and local agencies who gave to this endeavor. “Their support, indeed has inspired and motivated me to perform my duties and responsibilities as chairman of the committee,” he added.
Madarang admitted that though he is an inexperienced chairman and it was his first time to work as chair, but because the committees spent much of their time and efforts the event became successful.
Madarang said one thing he was proud of was that all of the activities were successfully ended.
“One thing I am very proud of was that the activities were successfully ended and no untoward incident happened,” Madarang said.
Madarang said he prayed very hard and hopeful that the conduct of the event will be peaceful saying that the ‘Pasalamat’ festival is a jovial celebration of thanksgiving to our Divine Providence for the blessings we received and enjoyed for the past years.
The festival, Madarang said indeed has fostered the spirit of camaraderie, harmony, oneness and unity between the officials and the people of the city.
Meanwhile, regatta committee chairman Khendar Hadjirul expressed also his thanks to the members of the committee: the City Tourism council, Philippine Ports Authority, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Maritime Police, Philippine Red Cross, City Health Office, Organized Radio Assistance Communication and Information Services, Phi Lamda fraternity and the 12 coastal barangays for their active support during the event.
The regatta activities at wharf area were “peaceful, safe and doubly enjoyable, Hadjirul declared.
