Zambo allocates P2M for CDO, Iligan “Sendong” victims

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Dec. 19 (PIA 9) - - The city has allocated P2 million as aid to victims of typhoon “Sendong” in Cagayan De Oro and Iligan, the hardest hit areas, City Information Officer (IO) Sheila Covarrubias said.

“The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC) approved this morning to allocate a total of P2 million as assistance to the thousands of victims of tropical storm Sendong that hit the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan Sunday, Dec. 18. ,” Covarrubias in a statement said.

The lady IO said, each local government unit of Cagayan and Iligan will get P1 million each which will be delivered by Lobregat’s representatives.

“The mayor will task his represented to proceed to Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City to personally hand over the checks to Mayor Emano and Cruz, respectively,” Covarrubias elaborated.

Covarrubias said that Mayor Lobregat has been in contact with Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente Emano and Iligan City Mayor Lawrence Cruz since Sunday when the incident happened.

The active IO said the P2Million aid to the “Sendong” victims will be taken from the city’s calamity funds.

The financial assistance is on top of the relief assistance that the mayor has also committed to send in cooperation with the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) and Tzu Chi Foundation-Zamboanga.  (JPA/PIA-ZBST)
