by Jocelyn P. Alvarez
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Oct. 10 (PIA) –- The Department of Tourism (DOT) in partnership with the city government of Zamboanga will launch tonight at the Jardin Maria Clara in Pasonanca, a food festival that will cater the craves for “fiesta” foods of the public.
The event dubbed as “Barrio Fiesta de Comidas” will bring in various restaurants from the city for a two-day food festival set on October 10-11.
In a press statement from DOT, Senior Tourism Officer Marilou Silorio said the food fest is a showcase of choice menus from the best chefs in town at an affordable price.
“October for Zamboanga City is a month packed with activities in celebration of Fiesta Hermosa. The Barrio Fiesta de Comidas is in consonance with the Fiesta Pilar festivity.” Silorio said in the press statement.
The senior tourism officer said the event is an evening full of entertainment featuring the Jambangan Dance Ensemble who just gained international acclaim during their cultural performance in Malaysia.
She added, “High Hatters Chorale will serenade the dining visitors with a repertoire of Chabacano songs to set a Zamboangueño mood.”
“To perk up late evening diners, a local band will regale the night with genres of selected songs,” Silorio said.
“Just for a night, fun awaits those who come,” she assured.
A ribbon cutting ceremony to be led by Mayor Celso Lobregat and DOT Regional Director Mary June Bugante declares the food festival open.
Guests coming from different offices are expected to grace the affair.
The event is open to the public, 6pm to 10pm. (JPA with reports from Ludy Silorio-DOT 9/PA9-Zambo City)
