By Alfonso T. Ruda

DIPOLOG CITY - Consistent with its commitment to provide quality services to the Filipinos particularly the poor, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) has launched on Friday (May9) the “Alamin at Gamitin para sa Kalusugan” (Alaga Ka) program in Zamboanga del Norte.

The program launching, which was held at Zamboanga del Norte Cultural and Sports Center (ZNCSC) here, was attended by its members from Barangays Barra and Estaka, Dipolog City with Mayor Evelyn as guest speaker.

Mayor Uy, in her message, stressed the value of Philhealth to one’s healthcare needs as she recalled her experience with a cancer patient who had saved so much on her medication because of her being a member of Philhealth.

Zamboanga del Norte Philhealth head, Florencio R. Luyao Jr., said the program caters to the healthcare needs of the Filipinos particularly the poor and the marginalized sectors identified through the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction(NHTS-PR), now known as the “Listahan ng mga Tahanan” (LISTAHANAN)of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

“Alaga Ka” program is an integrated marketing scheme introduced by the Department of Health (DOH) and Philhealth to keep the members informed of their coverage, benefits and other public health programs of DOH.

The program also seeks to draw the support of everyone to become advocates of the National Health Insurance Programs (NHIP) as informed and empowered members.

Component activities of the program include basic information and education campaign, Member Data Record (MDR)distribution, member amendment and updating, and the provision of other member services particularly the enlistment and profiling under Primary Care Benefit or TseKap to all indigent members.
