ZAMBOANGA CITY - Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II shared that
Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala had already assured that there is more
than enough rice to cater to the needs of the evacuees.
“Basilan has 19,000 sacks, Sulu 3,000, Tawi-Tawi 16,200
and Zamboanga 300,000,” said Secretary Roxas. The rice have all been
inventoried at the National Food Authority warehouses in the localities. “The NFA continuously supplies our local markets, and I reiterate, hindi tayo makukulangan ng bigas,” he said.
As ordered by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, the agencies will create a food brigade in the centers to ensure that the evacuees will have enough to eat on a daily basis. (PIA9)
