PAGADIAN CITY - The Government Service
Insurance System (GSIS) here initiated the first offsite UMID enrolment using
the Enrolment Capturing Station (ECS) facility at the Provincial Governor’s
Office (PGO) yesterday.
No less than Zamboanga del
Sur Provincial Governor Antonio H. Cerilles led the UMID enrollees who were all
employees of the provincial government.
Initially, the enrolment
station was set up at the PGO lobby. However, poor connection prompted the IT
officer, Brian Ramos, to transfer the location to the PMIS office for better
internet access.
Engr. Leoncito S. Manuel,
GSIS-Pagadian branch head, said the move was in consonance with the state
pension fund’s efforts to bring its services closer to its members.
Manuel expressed his
appreciation to Governor Cerilles and capitol employees, especially the IT
staff who contributed much in setting up the needed facility and connections
for the UMID enrolment.
“We have also a tentative
schedule for the offsite UMID enrolment via ECS in the province of Zamboanga
Sibugay at the Department of Education (DepED). That would be done on the 1st
week of October,” Manuel stated.
Created under RA 8291
otherwise known as the GSIS Act of 1997, GSIS secures the future of all
employees of the government through the provision of social security benefits
such as compulsory life insurance, optional life insurance, retirement
benefits, and disability benefits for work-related accidents and death
benefits. (PIA9)
