Dipolog CPO receives motorcycles, firearms

By Alfonso T. Ruda
DIPOLOG CITY - To complement the efforts of the Philippine National Police in augmenting the capability of the police force against criminals and other lawless elements, the city government here has recently donated motorcycles and shotguns to the City Police Office (CPO).

In a simple turnover ceremony held at the Dipolog City police station Monday morning, Mayor Evelyn T. Uy personally turned-over 18 shotguns and four  units of Honda CBR 110 motorcycles to Zamboanga del Norte PNP Provincial Director P/Supt. James B. Mejia and DCPO Chief of Police, P/Supt. Joven R. Parcon.

In her speech, the lady mayor challenged the local police force to strengthen its campaign against lawless elements operating in the city and urged the police to use the motorcycles in running after perpetrators.

Uy also committed to continuously extend assistance needed by the police as she cited their vital role in the maintenance of peace and order in the city toward her vision of “a god-fearing, peaceful and progressive Dipolog City.”

Mejia expressed his gratitude to Mayor Uy for her untiring support to the local police force to improve its capability and effectively perform its law enforcement functions and respond to emergency situations.

P/Supt. Parcon, on the other hand, said the motorcycles will be utilized by his men in conducting security patrol especially at the commercial areas where most people are going.

It can be recalled that during the 112th Police Service Anniversary celebration at PNP Regional Office 9 at Camp Abendan, Barangay Mercedes, Zamboanga City, last Aug. 19, Mayor Uy was awarded as Outstanding Local Chief Executive in recognition of her continuing support to the activities and programs of the regional,  provincial and local police offices.
