DIPOLOG CITY - To
complement the efforts of the Philippine National Police in augmenting the
capability of the police force against criminals and other lawless elements,
the city government here has recently donated motorcycles and shotguns to the
City Police Office (CPO).
In
a simple turnover ceremony held at the Dipolog City police station Monday
morning, Mayor Evelyn T. Uy personally turned-over 18 shotguns and four units of Honda CBR 110 motorcycles to
Zamboanga del Norte PNP Provincial Director P/Supt. James B. Mejia and DCPO
Chief of Police, P/Supt. Joven R. Parcon.
In
her speech, the lady mayor challenged the local police force to strengthen its
campaign against lawless elements operating in the city and urged the police to
use the motorcycles in running after perpetrators.
Uy
also committed to continuously extend assistance needed by the police as she
cited their vital role in the maintenance of peace and order in the city toward
her vision of “a god-fearing, peaceful and progressive Dipolog City.”
Mejia
expressed his gratitude to Mayor Uy for her untiring support to the local
police force to improve its capability and effectively perform its law
enforcement functions and respond to emergency situations.

Parcon, on the other hand, said the motorcycles will be utilized by his men in
conducting security patrol especially at the commercial areas where most people
are going.
