PAGADIAN CITY – Some 1,300 waterless households in barangays Magdaup, Labe,
Timalang and Lumbia of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay will soon have potable water
supply after the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-9 has
released a check amounting to P4.55 million for the implementation of water
supply projects in said town.
A recent press release issued by DILG-9 said the amount was
the first tranche of the P9.1 million allotted for the water system projects in
Ipil town under the Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB) fund for 2013 with an equity of
P900 thousand from the municipality.
In a related development, the Municipal Health Office (MHO)
of Ipil has reported that there were 127 reported cases of waterborne diseases
in the said barangays in 2010. It hopes that the waterborne illnesses be
reduced by 50 percent as soon as the water supply system will operational in
the area.
“This release will be a great help to the community, knowing
that water is very important to daily life. We are looking forward to the
completion of this project,” said DILG-9 Assistant Regional Director Pedro G.
Cuevas as he turned-over the check to Arnel A. Aclanon of Ipil municipal
government at the DILG regional office here recently.
