11 (PIA) - - Expect a bloody Valentine’s Day here as the Philippine National
Red Cross -Zamboanga del Norte (PNRC-ZN) chapter will again hold a bloodletting
activity come Feb. 14.

administrator Joshua A. Bicoy has disclosed that everything is ready for the
conduct of blood donation campaign set on Valentine’s Day at the Lee Plaza City
Central this city.
Bicoy also said in
an interview with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) that the
organizations participating in “Blood Marathon 2012-Dugo Mo, Kinabuhi Ko”
project and which have donated the most number of blood units to Red Cross will
be given recognitions/awards on the heart’s day.
According to Bicoy,
the local Red Cross chapter is targeting to collect each month 240 units of
blood to ensure adequate, safe and quality blood supply for the patients in the
province.
“Aside from
patients needing blood transfusion due to surgical operations, an increase in
the number of patients undergoing dialysis has also been noted in the province,”
Bicoy said, adding that the province’s blood requirement would average 160 to
200 units of blood per month.
Eligible to donate
blood are individuals aged 18 to 65 years, at least 110 lbs or 50 kilos, not
