ZAMBOANGA
CITY - - The City will roll out the red
carpet for some 1,000 officers and members of the Philippine Councilors’ League
arriving in the city next week for the 3rd National Executive Officers and
National Board meeting.
Mayor Celso Lobregat presided over a coordination meeting he;d
recently with representatives from offices and agencies concerned to ensure a
hassle-free convention from September 12-14 in Zamboanga City.
But as preparations are rife for the PCL
National Convention next week, the city is also gearing up for two other huge
conventions this year—the 4th IBP Mindanao Convention of Lawyers and the
National Conference of the Career Executive Officers Association.
“This is really a part of our effort to
promote Zamboanga City by bringing out the good, the positive, the best and the
beautiful of Zamboanga”, the mayor said.
Zamboanga City has been dubbed as the
convention center in the region, as it hosts the most number of conventions—of
local, national and international scale every year.
Aside from the continuing local legislative
education program, the PCL officers and members will also get the chance to
tour around the city to see the various attraction sites.
The PCL National Convention will have
national officials as guests of honor from its opening day to the welcome night
and closing program. The League is headed by president Alma Moreno-Salic of
Parañaque City.
Moreno was in Zamboanga City together with
the PCL National Chairman and Tagum City Councilor Allan Zulueta and other PCL
officers last May to prepare the groundwork for this month’s event.
“Nandito po kami para humingi ng tulong kay
Mayor (Lobregat) at payagan gawin dito (sa Zamboanga) ang 3rd Assembly ng PCL
from Sept. 12-14. Ito ho ang pagkakataon para ipakita na ang Zamboanga City ay
napakaganda at hindi ho magulo at napakabait ang mga tao rito”, the PCL
president said addressing city government employees during the flag raising
ceremony in front of City Hall last May 28.
Moreno, A former actress showed no qualms
in talking about the many things that Zamboanga has to offer and how infatuated
she is with the city and its people citing her numerous visits before.
