DIPOLOG CITY, MAY
23(PIA)--- The Department
of Education Regional Office 9 has recently conducted training among Grade I
teachers of the Dipolog City Schools Division in preparation for the formal
implementation of K+12 program this school year 2012-2013.
The
five-day regional training was conducted at To Plaza, Dipolog City from May 14
to 18, 2012.
Dipolog
City Mayor Evelyn T. Uy, who was the guest speaker during the opening of the
5-day training urged the teachers to heartily implement the new program of
DepEd which will be formally implemented starting this school year.
The
City Mayor believed that the teachers will find no problem adopting the new
program as they have already proven in the past their flexibility to adopt any
reform initiated by its Central Office.
Uy
said the implementation of K+12 program is a good development since it would
help the City Government’s desire to implement its program on Performance Governance
System which give an inspiration to achieve its vision of making Dipolog City a
Swigapore by the year 2030.
The
K+12 Program aims to upgrade the Basic Education Curriculum to ensure that the
students get the needed knowledge and skills that would make them productive
members of the society.
Under
the program, students will be taught of skills development courses and special
interest subjects that would fit into the personality and career direction of
every student.
The K+12 program
starts with two years in Kindergarten, six years in elementary’ four years in
junior high school and two years in senior high school.(ATR/PIA9-Zambo Norte)
