DIPOLOG CITY, April 18 (PIA) - - Preparations for the holding of this year’s “Hudyaka Festival” are now underway, according to Provincial Tourism Officer Atty. Ivan Patrick A. Ang.
Atty. Ang disclosed that the 2012 Hudyaka Festival will be held here in Dipolog City starting on May 30 - June 7.
A grand parade to be participated in by the delegations from the 25 municipalities and two cities, officials and employees of the different national government agencies (NGAs) based in the province, civic and religious groups, and non-government organizations (NGOs) will be held along the city’s major thoroughfares on the opening day.
This will be followed by a concert at the “Hudyaka Agro-Industrial” site featuring singers and bands from Manila.
It can be recalled that Zamboanga del Norte’s Hudyaka (merriment) festival ranked third among the best provincial festivals in the country.
Hudyaka festival, which started in 2005, is held yearly every May 30-June 7 to highlight the founding anniversary of Zamboanga del Norte which is celebrated every June 6.
“There will be more fun for this year’s Hudyaka festival as the province will turn 60,” said Ang adding more prizes and surprises await all and sundry. (FPG/PIA-Zamboanga del Norte)
