DIPOLOG CITY, April 17 (PIA) - - A student of Dipolog City National High School (DCNHS) has bested other contestants in the national level on-the-spot essay writing contest held in Iloilo City recently.
Ma. Bianca N. Cañoneo, 16, who just graduated from high school as valedictorian, emerged as national champion in the on-spot-essay writing contest which was held simultaneously with the 2012 national population quiz at the Grand Hotel in Iloilo City.
The essay writing competition was anchored on the theme, “Promoting Youth Involvement in Population, Health and Development for Local Governance.”
Cañoneo, who represented region 9, was a consistent honor student at DCNHS. Her coach was Mrs. Elisa E. Vidal.
Population quiz and essay writing contest are yearly activities jointly sponsored by the Commission on Population (POPCOM) and the Department of Education (DepED) for high school students aimed at increasing the level of awareness among the youth on population issues and concerns.
