Pagadian City, Mar. 01 (PIA) – A group of young and talented local artists in the city, held a series of concerts with the intention to extend a helping hand to the survivors of the December 17, 2011 flashfloods brought about by typhoon Sendong in the cities Iligan and Cagayan de Oro.
After the terrifying incident in December, some youth coming from the different church denominations bonded together and came up with a common vision of sharing and helping the survivors by holding a concert for a cause which was later named “One Love, One Hope, One Nation.”
The host church of the group is the United Church of Christ of the Philippines (UCCP), Pagadian.
In his opening statement prior to the concert proper, Pastor Adonis Bomes, UCCP Resident Minister and spiritual adviser of the group at the same time one of the soloist, said that every single centavo raised from the concerts will be given to the victims and survivors of Sendong.
The group had performed in three separate venues in the city as follows: UCCP church on January 16, 2012; Zamboanga del Sur National High School (ZSNHS) Main and Southern Mindanao Colleges (SMC) Annex gymnasium on February 28 and 29, 2012 respectively.
The performances have live musical accompaniment with the following music pool and directors: Renefe Tremedal, Artistic Director; Clemen Carl de Guzman, Musical Director; Mary Grace Farrales, Assistant Musical Director; Star Parulan, Choreographer; Jonard Baguio and Matthew Sabasales, keyboards; Alvin Carreon, base guitar; Justin Paul Bayawa and Allen Paulete, lead guitars, Ronah Faye Oroman, drums and Reil Francis Nodado, flute.
With performances from the ZSNHS Himig Ensemble, Sayaw, Kanta, Drama At iba pa (SAKADA) and the UCCP Kids Choir. (PIA9/CAL)
