DIPOLOG CITY, March 12 (PIA) – The city government here is now planning to renew its Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for the continuance of the operations of the Special Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit Active Auxiliary (SCAA) in the city.
City councilor James Cyril Ruiz has recommended that a MOA on SCAA with the AFP be renewed as “it is of great help in maintaining peace and order in the city.”
Ruiz said the SCAA had provided support to the police force to prevent lawless elements from entering or sowing terror in the city.
For the past three years, SCAA was tapped in helping the elements of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in a series of drug buy-bust operations resulting in the arrest of several drug pushers.
With this, the city council has passed a resolution authorizing the city mayor to renew a MOA with the AFP to retain the services of SCAA in assisting the police and military personnel in the campaign against all forms of criminalities. (FPG/PIA-Zamboanga del Norte)
