DIPOLOG CITY, Dec. 23 (PIA) - - A two-day training on Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) has recently been conducted in this city with city/municipal disaster management action officers as participants.
Sponsored by the Regional Fisheries Livelihoods Programme for South and Southeast Asia-Food and Agriculture Organization (RFLP-FAO) in partnership with the Ecosystem Works for Essential Benefits (ECOWEB) and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), the training aimed to acquaint the participants with disaster, hazard and vulnerability assessment.
The training also underscored the importance of establishing an early warning system to mitigate the impact of any disaster.
Specifically, the topics discussed during the training include participatory disaster assessment, hazard assessment, vulnerability assessment principles and practices in DRRM and many more.
The participating LGUs were the cities of Dipolog and Dapitan and the municipalities of Katipunan, Rizal, Sibutad, Katipunan, Manukan, Sindangan, Leon Positigo and Salug. (FPG/PIA-Zambo. Norte)
