PAGADIAN CITY, December 24 (PIA) -- The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) conducts regular ocular inspection in business establishments selling pyrotechnics to find out if they have secured fire inspection safety permit (FISP) from the city mayor’s office.
City fire marshall Senior Inspector Rheno Cimafranca said the team inspected the following establishments: Pagadian Metro Shopping, SK General Merchandise, Unilab General Merchandise , Chan Cheng Gen. Merhandise, stores located at the dry goods section in Agora complex and on sidewalks.
Cimafranca said the inspection made was in strict compliance with the directive issued by the Department of the Interior and Local Government to ensure public safety specifically from Christmas until New Year.
The team checked the pyrotechnics banned by Department of Health such as lolo thunder, super lolo, bawang (large), pla-pla, kwiton, watusi, giant whistle, judas belt (large), Og-ug and atomic bomb, Cimafranca said.
He added that the team found out that almost all of the establishments inspected have complied with the requirements, while there were few who failed to secure the FISP.
“We warned them to immediately secure the FISP or else we will not allow them to display the pyrotechnics until New Year, “Cimafranca cautioned.
At 4:00 pm Friday, the team also inspected the pyrotechnics stalls beside Liga city convention center along corner F.S. Pajares-Datoc, to check if they also complied with the order.
Meanwhile, Cimfranca appealed to the public to use ‘torotot’ instead of firecrackers and pyrotechnics during the revelry to avoid injuries and accidents in the celebration of Christmas and New Year. (NBE/GCC/PIA9-Pagadian)
