Stakeholders converge for 2nd Quarter Provincial Inter-Agency Committee meeting

Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – The 2nd Quarter Provincial Inter-Agency Meeting was recently held at the Provincial Capitol here to discuss vital issues on government interventions for Pantawid beneficiaries.
Mr. Noelito Salandron, executive assistant of the Provincial Governor’s Officerepresented Governor Wilter Y. Palma, committee chairperson, whowas attendingsome other equally important matters.

“I see the reality that Sibugaynons suffer financially, particularly those in the agriculture sector. Change should start in the locality. Development in some areas is effective but in some, it is not,” he said, reading the message of the governor.

“I intend to pursue a program called RENEWAL, which means, "Road and Infrastructure, Education, Nutrition, Environmental protection, Water, Agriculture, Livelihood and other social services,” stressed Salandron, quoting Gov. Palma’s message.

According to 4Ps Provincial Link Ms. Flordeliza A. Atuy, there are 54,631 active Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries. Ipil has 6,356 beneficiaries, the highest in number among the 16 municipalities of the province. 

The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), a core program of the Department of Social Welfare and Developmentaims to provide livelihood projects to beneficiaries in need such as providing them loans without having to pay an interest. It provides assistance tocoordinate with other agencies to help beneficiaries look for sustainable employment opportunities and improve their quality of life.

To date, there are  6,950 SLP beneficiaries in the province.

DTI Trade Industry Development Specialist Carlo Zion M. Gonzales bared DTI’s upcoming events to include Nego-Show Time on July 20-21; Provincial Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Conference on July 22 and the Regional Shared Service Facilities (SSF) Summit on July 26.

Meanwhile, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority(TESDA) representative Ma. Socorro A. Sta. Teresa urged Sibugaynons to visit their office for more information on trainings available. She said all partner agencies may request for trainings depending on the availability of the trainers.

The “Iwas Dengue Campaign” waslaunched on July 4-8 in Alicia and Buug towns, according toSandralyn D. Ferrater, a representative from the Provincial Health Office.

“The Provincial Inter-Agency Committee was organized purposely to bring and present relevant and necessary information regarding programs and projects of each member agency for the benefit of the Pantawid program beneficiaries. It is composed of the Provincial Governor’s Office, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, DSWD, DOH, DepEd, DILG, DTI, TESDA and other NGAs interested to join.” explained Mr. Jonathan H. Limbaga, Provincial Grievance Officer.
