Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – As part of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME)Roving Academy, the Department of Trade and Industry-Provincial
Field Office held a 2-day Livelihood/Business Opportunities Training dubbed as
“NegoShow Time.”
The said
event showcased a cooking demoof fishballs with squash, fish embotidoand banana
chipsduring the first day and skinless chicken longganisa, beef tapa and
chicken tocino on the second day.
Ms.
JeyzelAparri and Ms. Jane Baygas, project assistants of the Department of
Science and Technologyfacilitated the 2-day cooking demo held at Sibugay
Technical Institute Inc. (STII)on July 20-21.
“I am a
retired Zamsureco employee. I have worked for 34 years. I am still 58 years old
but I retired early. I got interested to attend this training because I want to
learn something. It is good to spend time productively while earning. I am very
thankful to DTI and DOST for this kind of training,” declaredGenio G. Peralta,
Barangay Kagawad ofPoblacion Ipil.

Women’s Group said, “we have a good number of women in our association. This
training is very appropriate for us. We will strive to make something out of
what we have learned and will be learning in this training.”
“Fishballs
with squash and banana chips are good snacks for students. They are relatively
cheap, so it is very affordable for students. This is a good opportunity for
those who want to pursue business,” said Mr. Webb R. Villaescusa, trade and
industry development specialist.
SME Roving Academy is a continuous learning program of DTI for the
development of micro, small and
medium enterprises (MSMEs)
tobecome competitive. It aims to empower homemakers,
retired and jobless individuals, and all those who are seeking for ways and
means to augment their income.
A total of
50 participants attended the training from the various municipalities of the
province.
