PAGADIAN
CITY – The
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) provincial office is slated to turnover
shared service facilities (SSF) worth
P2.11-M to four (4) micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the province
on Friday, September 18.
Provincial Director Ma. Socorro M.
Atay said the launching, turnover and blessing ceremony of SSF projects will be
held in barangay Bogo and Kapalaran, Molave and barangay Begong, Tigbao,
respectively.
Atay said the abaca processing SSF
will be turned-over to Molave Strippers Association (MASA) and Josefina Abaca
Strippers Association (JASA) on Friday morning, while the organic fertilizer
processing SSF will be turned-over to Labangan Farmers First Consolidated
Multi-Purpose Cooperative (LAFFICO) and Kahugpungan sa mga Mamumuo/Mag-uuma
Kababayen-an (KASAMMAKA) in the afternoon.
“It aims to address the gaps in the
supply chain of an identified project by providing processing or manufacturing
tools, equipment and machines for the common use of Micro Small and Medium
Enterprises (MSMEs),” she added.
The project also seeks to enhance
the competitiveness of the priority industry clusters through the use of
quality and productivity enhancing machinery and equipment and develop priority
and market-driven industries in support of the National Industry Capacity
Enhancement Program, according to Atay.
Accordingly,
these facilities are being tagged with “Property of DTI” which means it is still
the property of the government, but after two years of successful operations,
these equipment and facilities will be donated to the beneficiaries at no cost
through a deed of donation.
In a related
development, SME & Industry division chief Roger Sarsalejo said that the
first batch of the SSF turnover ceremony was held on March 2014 where organic processing facilities were awarded to Danlugan Farmers’
Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Barangay Danlugan and five handicraft sewing
machines to the Pagadian City Non-Formal Education Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose
Cooperative of barangay San Pedro, Pagadian City.
“The activity on Friday is
the second batch of the release of SSF to SMEs. There will be more releases to
follow,” Sarsalejo announced.
