Social Media tackled in IP Journalistic Writing Workshop

IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay -  Philippine Information Office (PIA-9) in partnership with the National Commissions on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP-9) and US Embassy Manila conducted a two-day Journalistic Writing Workshop in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay held at Ricomar Pension House and Restaurant on June 17-18, 2015.

Regional Director Noemi B. Edaga started off the second day by facilitating the recap of the previous day’s activities. The participants  shared what they learned from the topics discussed.

Director Edaga elaborated  on the essentials and importance of social media through many different tools like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, among others. All these play a vital part on being an important platform to deliver real time news.

Similarly, she encouraged the 22 IP college students, 14 ladies and 7 gentlemen,  to take the challenge to become IP Patrollers. This way, they can responsibly make citizen reports and deliver useful information.

The NCIP EAP scholarship grantees who successfully hurdled the 2-day Journalistic Writing Workshop belong to different tribes: Two (2) from Samal Tribe, three (3) from Islam tribe and sixteen (16) from Subanen tribe.

These IP college students are now ready to face the real world taking the task and challenge of becoming good  effective writers and IP patrollers.
