101 jobseekers hired on Labor Day in Dapitan

DAPITAN CITY - A total of 101 jobseekers successfully landed jobs during the Jobs and Livelihood Fair conducted on Labor Day at Cultural and Sports Center (CSC) here.

Department of Labor and Employment-Zamboanga del Norte (DOLE-ZN) Provincial Director Lourdes Amores said a total of 9,194 overseas and 305 local vacancies were up for grabs for the 472 applicants during the job fair. Eighty-three of them were hired by local companies, 18 by overseas recruitment agencies, 33 were referred to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA and 20 were referred to the DOLE’s integrated livelihood assistance.

In addition, TESDA also provided free hair, manicure and pedicure during the said fair, which was spearheaded by DOLE-ZN in coordination with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA)-IX, TESDA and the city government of Dapitan through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

DOLE-Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Head, Lourdes Amores said a total of 9,194 overseas and 305 local vacancies were up for grab for the 472 applicants during the Job Fair.

Of this number, 83 were hired by local companies; 18 were hired by the overseas recruitment agencies; 33 were referred to TESDA for training and 20 were referred to the livelihood assistance of the Department of Labor and Employment’s integrated Livelihood Assistance.

The overseas recruitment agencies joining the job fair were Maanyag International Manpower Services, Al Alamiya, MMML Recruitment Agency, Mother’s Way Overseas Manpower Services, Zontar Manpower Agency and Workgroup International, and the local companies included Alano and Sons, Katipunan Bank, MontaƱo Construction, Mediatrix Homes, Prince Warehouse Club, Community Rural Bank of Dapitan, Millenium Distributors Inc, Toyota Cagayan, Ariana Hotel, Vicente Lao Construction, Virginia Hotdog and Gloria de Dapitan.

The 113th Labor Day celebration carries the theme, “Disenteng Trabaho at Kabuhayan Alay Natin sa Bayan.”
