By Mary May A. Abellon

DIPOLOG CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) of Zamboanga del Norte has recently turned-over 25 BMX bikes to 25 out-of-school youths (OSYs) of Barangay Barra this city.

DOLE-Zamboanga del Norte provincial chief, Lourdes Amores, said this project is under the agency’s “Livelihood Formation Bicycle Rental Services to Generate Income Among Out-of-School Youths for Balik-Eskwela Program.”

The said bicycles will be rented for P40 per hour at Dipolog City Boulevard and the proceeds thereof will be used to finance the education of the recipients and for other expenses to be incurred by the group.

Mayor Evelyn T. Uy appealed to the recipients to take good care of their “bicycle for rent” business by using their income properly.

The lady mayor stressed that this program corresponds to the city’s vision of becoming the Sports Event Center of the South by 2020.

She also encouraged the youth sector to actively participate in all outdoor activities the city government and private groups have organized.

The beneficiaries, who are members of the PAG-ASA Youth Bikers and Kayakers Association (PYBKA), have expressed their gratitude to the DOLE and the city government of Dipolog for the support extended to their group.
