“Security is the concern of all residents not only of the police, military, and the local government,” Mayor Climaco-Salazar urged the public in a press briefing.
The lady chief executive instructed the police and military to tighten efforts through police visibility and bit patrols to deter crimes in the city. She requested a fusion of different police and military units to address threats in the city’s security.
In a recent statement from the City Hall, Climaco-Salazar also issued an urgent call for all barangays to activate the “tanods” or civilian volunteer organizations and strengthen security patrols in their respective areas. She said: “A reinforced barangay defensive system is very crucial in the drive against lawless elements.”
Mayor Climaco-Salazar, in turn, assured her constituents of continuous support to peace keeping efforts. Recently, the city council approved a request for appropriate funds for the purchase of vital equipment for security.
She is also closely coordinating and monitoring the implementation of other peace-keeping measures.
Climaco-Salazar also urged the public to be vigilant and inform authorities of suspicious activities in their area by calling PNP hotlines 166 or 117.
