10% of population facing water crisis due to brownout

PAGADIAN CITY – Pagadian City WaterDistrict (PCWD) General Manager Edilberto E. Yorong in today’s PIA Media Forum said 10% of barangays in the city are facing water crisis brought about by the frequent brownouts in the area.

Yorong said of the 19,788 water service connections with more or less 114,528 people being served in the city, about 3,200 are  affected with the crisis.

“Our water in the city is one of the best in terms of quality,  in Mindanao or in the region,”Yorong added.

“PCWD is a government owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) created thru Presidential Decree 198 better known as the Provincial Water Utilities Act of 1973, supported by Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP)Resolution 54 dated September 6, 1976,” Yorong explained.
