Zambo. Norte earmarks P73.2-M calamity fund for 2014

DIPOLOG CITY - In its desire to prepare and protect its people from any eventualities, the provincial government of Zamboanga del Norte has allocated more funds to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) with the approval of P73.2-million budget by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP).

During its recent regular session, the SP has passed a resolution approving the amount of P73,201,982 for disaster operations in the province.

The provincial board unanimously approved Resolution No. 2, series of 2013 authored by Board Member Crisologo Dicierdo, which crafted the province’s 2014 Disaster Preparedness Plan including the allocation of P73.2 million from the 5% calamity fund for 2014.

According to Dicierdo, the said amount will be divided into three phases: disaster phase which gets P51.2 million, emergency phase - P11.4 million and P10.5 million for post-emergency phase.

In the same session Resolution No. 3, series of 2013 which crafted the 2014-2016 Disaster Investment Plan of PDRRMC was also approved.

The SP cited the need to enhance the disaster preparedness capability of the PDRRMC to better address the needs of the people during disasters.

The PDRRMC is headed by Governor Roberto Y. Uy with Engr. Cristopher L. Zosa as its action officer. (PIA9)
