IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay – A three-day competency-based supervision training has been conducted here starting yesterday, Feb. 18, by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Attending the said training are heads of instruction, department heads and lead trainers from the Kabasalan Institute of Technology (KIT) and private Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) in Zamboanga Sibugay.
Provincial Director Lorenzo Emanuel L. Guillermo in an interview said the training aims to improve participants’ effectiveness and job performance as supervisors in their respective institutions.
“The heart of technical-vocational education is training. Therefore it is very important that we give attention to the heads of instructions and administrators, who are responsible in nurturing the trainers in order to raise the quality of training,” Guillermo said.
The training comprises lecture, plenary discussion, role play, simulation, focus group discussion and open forum, covering topics on quality teacher development, supervisory framework for Technical-Vocational Educational Training (TVET), supervisory monitoring tools and overview of coaching counseling and mentoring, situational leadership, effective coaching techniques, coaching benefits, successful counseling and mentoring techniques.
Guillermo disclosed that it is the first time that the TESDA has conducted such training for supervisors.
TESDA- Zamboanga Sibugay has been regularly conducting seminars and trainings to capacitate its partners in the delivery of quality technical-vocational education and training.
