Bayog town receives fire truck

By Claro A. Lanipa
BAYOG, Zamboanga del Sur – A fire truck owned by Barangay Poblacion has recently been turned-over on Monday to the municipal government here.

Barangay Poblacion chairman Berly E. Jate personally turned-over the said fire truck to Mayor Leonardo L. Babasa Jr. after the barangay council had passed a resolution donating the said vehicle to the municipality.

It can be recalled that the said fire truck was acquired by Barangay Poblacion from the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Service (KALAHI-CIDSS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in 2007.

Jate disclosed that the barangay had decided to turn-over the fire truck to the municipal government since it could no longer afford to sustain the vehicle’s repair and maintenance and the honorarium for the fire volunteer brigade.

The fire truck will now be manned by the Bayog Fire Volunteer Brigade under the supervision of Mr. Abraham Capayas, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (MDRRMO).

Witnessing the turnover ceremony and the signing of the deed of donation were Vice Mayor Celso Matias, Councilor Horace Paul Anlap and Barangay Poblacion officials. (FPG/CAL/PIA9 with reports from Bernadine Gabawan)
