RDC-9 to conduct infocar in Midsalip, Jose Dalman towns

By Franklin P. Gumapon

PAGADIAN CITY –  A team from the Regional Communications and Advocacy Program (RCAP)      committee of  the Regional Development Council (RDC)-9 recently went to  the  municipalities of Midsalip in Zamboanga del Sur and Jose Dalman in Zamboanga del Norte to gather their needs and problems requiring appropriate responses from the  government line agencies.

National Youth Commission (NYC)-9 Regional Director Raymond Domingo led the team in meeting with the municipal action teams to get first hand specific needs of the townsfolk prior to the conduct of the information caravan which is scheduled on Oct. 17 and 24 in Midsalip and Jose Dalman, respectively.

Midsalip Mayor Liwaya Angcap-Paras told Director Domingo that four barangays of her town have no access roads and most of her constituents are “living below the poverty threshold.” So, she is seeking the help of the national government through its line agencies for the construction of roads and bridges, daycare centers and classrooms, and for the provision of livelihood training and programs for the unemployed.

In Jose Dalman, Mayor Rachel Dalman-Ferrater also asks the Department of Education (DepED) for additional teacher positions and school buildings to decongest jam-packed classrooms.

The municipality also needs six more health centers and additional health workers.

The government agencies joining the information caravan include the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Commission on Population (Popcom), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Office of Civil Defense (OCD), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and many others.
