DIPOLOG CITY - Zamboanga del Norte’s booth won
third place in the recently concluded Regional Fruit and Vegetable Promotion
and Exhibition held in this city.
The
two-day fruit and vegetable promotion and exhibition, which was held at Mibang
Hotel Function Hall last July 29-30, was spearheaded by the Agri-Business and
Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) of the Department of Agriculture (DA)-9.
Ms.
Arcele Templa, AMAD Staff, said the DA organized the two-day affair to give
time to the vegetable growers and farmers and other stakeholders to show their
expertise on how to develop and market their agricultural products.
The
contest was gauged based on the agricultural products displayed in the
different booths, especially the processed fruits and vegetables emanating from
the different provinces of the region.
For
its feat, Zamboanga del Norte, through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist
(OPA) received a cash prize of P3,000.00, while Pagadian City and Zamboanga
City received P5,000.00 and P4,000.00 cash prize as champion and runner-up of
the contest, respectively.
In
fruit and vegetable table arrangement contest, the winners were Zamboanga
City-first place with a cash prize of P3,000.00 followed by Pagadian City as
runner-up with P2,000 cash prize and Dipolog City as third place winner with
P1,000 cash prize.
Meanwhile,
Pagadian City got first place in cooking contest and received a cash prize of P1,500.00,
followed by Zamboanga City with P1,200.

Regional Executive Director Eduardo Holoyohoy hoped that the result of the
two-day competition would inspire vegetable and fruit growers to further
improve and adopt new technology in processing their agricultural
