Public warned vs. bogus Interpolcom group recruitment

By Dominic I. Sanchez

ZAMBOANGA CITY - The Philippine National Police Regional Office IX (PRO9) has warned the public against a reported recruitment being conducted by a suspicious organization going by the name of Interpolcom.

In an advisory posted Aug. 2 in its official website (pro9.pnp.gov.ph), the PNP asserted that “this group is not in any way connected with the legitimate International Police Organization (Interpol), which has its headquarters in France.”

The police received a letter dated July 25, 2013 from Police Director Felizardo Serapio, Executive Director of the Philippine Center for Transnational Crime (PCTC), stating that the public should be wary of such group, which claims to be a paramilitary organization composed of personnel with military ranks.

According to the advisory, members of this dubious group will recruit persons and require them to pay certain amounts for membership.

In September 2011, the authorities apprehended six armed persons connected with such group passing off as legitimate organization.

The regional police advised that if ever the public makes contact with such persons, they should immediately report it to the authorities. (PIA9)
