Zambo. Norte gov to pursue God-fearing, transparent governance

By Alfonso T. Ruda

DIPOLOG CITY - Newly elected Zamboanga del Norte Governor Roberto Uy urged all government officials and employees of the provincial government to always obey the teachings of God and to follow the “straight path” as envisioned by President Benigno Aquino III.

Governor Uy aired his appeal to the provincial officials and employees during the flag-raising ceremony Tuesday, his first day of office as governor of the province.

Also present during the historic flag-raising ceremony were provincial board members, chiefs of offices, chiefs of hospitals as well as rank-and-file employees.

After the flag-raising ceremony, the governor presided over the first management conference with chiefs of offices to get a clearer picture of the general operations of the provincial government including its finances.

In an interview with the local media, Dipolog City Councilor Atty. James Verduguez, who heads the Local Governance Transition Team, admitted as having some difficulties in getting the needed documents from the different offices.

On the financial status of the province, Verduguez said that based on their initial findings, the Provincial Government has only a little over P150,000 in its coffers for its day-to-day operations, contrary to the earlier pronouncement of  former Governor Rolando Yebes that he will leave some P200 million savings to the new administration.

Governor Uy took his oath before Executive Judge Rogelio Laquihon of the  Regional Trial Court Branch 7 in a Joint oath-taking ceremonies held at Dipolog City Sports Complex in Olingan this city last  June 29. (PIA9)
