By Mary May A. Abellon
DIPOLOG CITY - International singer-songwriter David Pomeranz has added color to this city’s centennial celebration with his live concert last July 1 at the Dipolog City Sports Complex.

David Pomeranz, who is an American singer, composer, lyricist and songwriter, has sold over 35 million copies of his recordings worldwide. His musical projects have also earned him a total of 18 gold and 22 platinum records.
He sang over 20 songs during the concert like “Got to Believe in Magic,” “Born for You,” “If You Walked Away,” “On This Day,” “King and Queen of Hearts” and many more.

People from all walks of life and from different places in Zamboanga del Norte expressed their eagerness and excitement, not to miss the chance of seeing him in person for the first time through his live performance here in the city.

The city government of Dipolog through the leadership of Mayor Evelyn T. Uy in partnership with private sectors made the free live concert with the American singer possible.

In a press conference, the singer expressed his gratitude to all Dipolognons, the city government and its officials for giving him a warm welcome and gracious stay in the city.

“I don’t believe and I don’t fear what others said about the peace situation in Mindanao. Public disorder may happen anywhere in the world and Mindanao is not confined in one place, like, here in Dipolog you have a peace-loving community,” said David when asked whether he has hesitation to perform a concert in Mindanao.

“If you want to become a renowned singer, you must earn that through hard work and experience.  It will take you some time to master stage craft, so, you should sing, perform anything and everything - be it in clubs, family gatherings, wedding and birthdays, you have to sing it for the people,” David concluded.

Other cities he will visit this month are Pagadian, Valencia, Butuan, Ormoc, Dumaguete, Tagbilaran, Roxas and Tagum. (PIA9)
