Search is on for outstanding workers in Dipolog City

DIPOLOG CITY – To give due recognition to workers with exemplary performance, the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (TIPC)-Dipolog City together with the city government of Dipolog and the Department of Labor and Employment-Zamboanga del Norte (DOLE-ZN) field office launched on Saturday the “2013 Search for Most Outstanding Workers in the Private Sector” of this city.

The search, which is open to all legitimate employees of private companies, establishments and schools in the city, has five categories, namely: utility worker, tricycle driver, sales clerk, food attendant and kasambahay (house help).

The utility worker category covers workers from office, shop, hospital, merchandise, academe, banking and financial institutions, hotels and restaurants.

Nominees for most outstanding utility worker, tricycle driver, sales clerk and food attendant are to be endorsed by their employer or any reputable organization, with at least one year of continuous employment under the same employer, with exemplary performance based on their performance rating, with good character and leadership skills, active community members and having assisted in promoting healthy labor and management relations.

For the Kasambahay category, the nominees must be endorsed by their employer, at least 18 years of age, with a continuous employment under the same employer for at least one year, and registered member of PhilHealth and SSS at the time of nomination. The nomination must be accompanied with a certification by the barangay captain attesting that the nominee has been a “Kasambahay” of a certain family in said barangay.

The criteria for judging the nominees for outstanding utility worker, tricycle driver, sales clerk and food attendant categories are as follows: work performance-25%, impact of behavioral performance and character-15%, leadership and integrity-25%, social responsibility-15% and promotion of good labor and management relations-20% for a total of 100%.

For kasambahay, the criteria for judging include work performance-25%, impact of behavioral performance and character-25%, social responsibility-25%, and promotion of good labor and management relations-25%.

All nominations shall be submitted on or before May 6, 2013 to the search secretariat at DOLE-ZN office, DBP Bldg., Dipolog City.

DOLE-ZN chief Henry Tianero said the winners will be awarded on May 30 during the “Handog Pasasalamat (Tribute night),” a culminating activity of the Labor Month celebration at the Top Plaza Hotel, Dipolog City.

The establishments/organizations serving as sponsors of this year’s search for most outstanding employees are the Dipolog Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Rural Transit of Mindanao, Inc., TVI Resource Development (Phils), Rural Bank of Rizal, and the city government of Dipolog. (PIA9)
