Search for “Mga bagong Rizal: Pag-asa ng Bayan 2013” tilt is on

PAGADIAN CITY - The Philippine Center for Gifted Education, Inc. (PCGE) in partnership with the Regional Development Council  (RDC)-9 is now spearheading a search for “Mga bagong Rizal: Pag-asa ng Bayan 2013.”

The search aims to recognize children and youth who exude exemplary performance in their own fields at the elementary, high school, and college levels.

Nomination period is from January to April 2013 and awarding is on June 12, 2013.
“Any Filipino, school or community may nominate a person who is believed to have done exemplary performance in his own fields. “There will be no self nomination,” clarified Dr. Leticia Ho, President, PCGE, Inc., in a statement.

Ho bared the criteria for selection saying a nominee shall be from grade 3 to college level in a public or private school, vocational course or an out of school youth (OSY); should belong to the top 5% of their class; for OSY top 5% of lass class attended; or has been recognized for their outstanding ability or excellence in one or more of the multiple intelligences as confirmed though awards, local, regional, national, international.

The nominee, at the time of nomination, should have an existing project or is actively involved in an activity that shows concern for others; has shown commitment to school, community, regional or national goals through documented involvement in projects and activities; has shown exemplary behaviour, conduct, values and interpersonal relationship skills; has shown leadership potential and is willing to perform the duties and obligations attendant to being chosen Bagong Rizal 2013.

Documents required include duly accomplished nomination form with picture; recommendation from three persons who know the nominee; portfolio which include nominee’s curriculum vitae, best work, awards, pictures/documents to support awards, one-page essay (why do you think you deserve to be one of the 17 mga Bagong Rizal Awardees?).

All nominations should be submitted to the RDC of the region where the nominee resides.

The PCGE Advisory Board will deliberate and choose 17 awardees from the nominees on May 17 and they will have their orientation, leadership and skills training and project planning in June before their oath-taking and awarding ceremony on June 12, 2013.

PCGE is a non-profit organization devoted to raising public awareness about giftedness, and the education of gifted people. (PIA9)
