ZamPen overseas workers benefit P27-M from OWWA9

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Feb 6 (PIA) - - In its year-ender report, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration of Region 9 (OWWA-9), said it released P27,799,267.85 for the implementation of programs and services to OFW families and members in Region 9.

Beneficiaries from the cities of Zamboanga , Isabela, Basilan, Dipolog and the province of Zamboanga Sibugay availed of various programs and services offered by OWWA which include reintegration, death and burial benefit, skills employment scholarship, OFWs dependents scholarship, Balik Pinay, Balik Hanapbuhay, Education Development Scholarship Program, and the National Reintegration Center for OFWs.

OWWA – 9 also facilitated relief assistance intended for OFWs working in Syria during the time when the said country has experienced conflict.

Furthermore, sea-based members have also availed scholarship grants in short–term upgrading courses under the Seafarer’s Upgrading Program.

OWWA Regional Director Hassan Gabra Jumdain extended his gratitude to OWWA Administrator Carmelita Dimzon; Labor Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis- Baldoz to the DOLE- Regional Coordinating Committee; and OWWA Board of Trustees and its Executive Management for the untiring support given to the agency.

OWWA, an attached agency of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) aids in the promotion of interest of the Overseas Filipino Workers by providing assistance to its member OFWs.
