DTI, city govt. hold ”Tunug-tugan” trade fair

By Alfonso T. Ruda

DIPOLOG CITY, Feb. 11(PIA)--- The provincial office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Zamboanga del Norte and the city government of Dipolog are currently holding a “Tunug-tugan” trade fair at the Building B of the newly-constructed commercial center at this city’s boulevard.

The trade fair, which started Feb. 5 and will last until Feb. 23, is part of the celebration of Philippine Arts Festival (PAF) which highlights the “Tunug-tugan,” the first international gongs and bamboo festival to be held in this city on Feb. 16-22.

It showcases various products such as the famous bottled-sardines of Dipolog City, handicrafts, fashion accessories, food products, furnitures, pasalubong items and many more.

City Mayor Evelyn T. Uy led the formal opening of the trade fair with DTI Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Director Engr. Noel R. Bazan during a short program and cutting of ribbon.

A total of 40 exhibitors from Dipolog City and neighboring cities and provinces like Cagayan de Oro City, Cebu City, Davao City, Bukidnon, and Zamboanga Sibugay are joining the trade fair.

During the opening program, Mayor Uy thanked the DTI, the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Dipolog City, the City Tourism Office, the exhibitors and the Dipolognons for their support to making the whole undertaking a reality.

She encouraged the visitors and the buying public to visit the venue and avail of the rare opportunity to buy products from other places as she hoped to conduct the activity yearly.

Mayor Uy stressed that aside from being a good venue for trade fair, the Dipolog City Boulevard is also an ideal place for exercise and relaxation especially for people with health problems.

“To borrow the words of Dipolog Bishop Monsignor Jose Manguiran, the Dipolog City Boulevard is now a fulfilled dream,” Mayor Uy said. (FPG/ERODA-DTI/ATR/PIA9-Zambo Norte)
