Malacañang declares Jan. 21 special non-working day in Pagadian City

PAGADIAN CITY, Jan. 18 (PIA)  --  Malacanang has declared Jan. 21 a special non-working day for this city in line with the celebration of the “Pasalamat Festival.”

President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, through Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa, Jr. issued on Monday Proclamation No. 535, making Jan. 21 a special non-working day as the city holds a weeklong “Pasalamat Festival” which culminates this coming Monday.

The festival is a special event that highlights the observance of the city’s annual parochial fiesta replete with a variety of merrymaking activities such as street dancing, regatta, and others. 

The proclamation emphasized the need to declare January 21 as a special non-working day so that the people here can celebrate and participate in the occasion.

It was learned that various activities were lined up to give color to the said celebration which will be participated in by the barangay officials, academe, non-government organizations, and other stakeholders. (FPG/GCC/PIA,Pagadian City
