2012 ASEAN-Korea Multimedia Competition Exhibition of the 2012 ASEAN-Korea Multimedia Competition

PAGADIAN CITY, Nov. 12 (PIA) - The ASEAN-Korea Centre organized the 2012 ASEAN-Korea Multimedia Competition (MMC) from 9 July – 24 September, 2012. Held under the theme of SHOW YOURSELF: ASEAN Self-Portrait, Korean Self-Portrait, over 2,700 photographic and video artworks presenting daily lives of ASEAN/Korea youth and the diversity and uniqueness of ASEAN/Korean fashion, cuisine and architecture were submitted by university students and young artists in ASEAN Member States and Korea.
In the category of photography, Hassnal Adam Raasalhague Sulaiman from Brunei Darussalam, Borin Chhun from Cambodia, Kittisak Sommanivong from Lao PDR, Jane Ching Ai Nee from Malaysia, Susan Zawwin from Myanmar and Nakrob Moolmanas from Thailand were selected as winners. Additionally, for the digital media arts category, Patricia Adele from Indonesia, Seung Min Jeong from Korea, Victor Villanueva from Philippines, Allysa Sing Zhi Bing from Singapore and Ngoc Vo Thi Nhu from Vietnam emerged as winners.

Ms. Suejin SHIN, the Director and the jury of 2012 MMC, mentioned that many of the entries capture the artist’s daily life including food, clothing, and shelter, and despite their different nationalities, the perspectives of these youth, who share an important developmental stage in their lives, are all genuine and earnest.
The winning artworks and Honorable Mention artworks, which consist of 66 photographs and 8 videos, will be exhibited at the Seoul Museum of History from November 2-11, 2012. Simultaneously, online exhibition will also be held through the ASEAN-Korea Centre’s cyber gallery at www.aseankorea.org/program/cyber/exhibitionList.jsp. The winners residing in ASEAN Member States were invited to Korea to join the Awards Ceremony and the Exhibition Opening Reception which was held on November 2, 2012 with the Ambassadors of ASEAN Member States joining the occasion to congratulate the winners.
