LGU Bayog leads Alay Lakad 2012

BAYOG, Zamboanga del Sur, Oct 1 (PIA) – To pool-out resources to finance the tuition fees and other educational needs of Alay Lakad scholars, the local government unit of Bayog under the leadership of Mayor Leonardo Babasa, Jr. thru its Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) led the “Walk for a Cause” last September 28, 2012.

At least 3,000 residents from the different sectors of the community participated in the 1.5 kilometer walk from the Municipal Government Center to Glupa Gulian Agro Tourism Park at Sitio Quibranza, Barangay Kahayagan.

A total of P131,143.00 was raised during the walk, where 17 scholars from the local college together with the rest of the scholars from all levels of education are assured to be in the school this School Year 2012-2013.

Participated in the event are the Department of Education (DepEd) Bayog District comprises of the National High Schools of Bayog, Mataga, Bobuan, and Damit, JH Cerilles State College-Bayog Campus, NGOs, People’s Organizations, WOMECO, Salawagan Agrarian Reform Cooperatives, Seventh Day Adventist, Timbermines Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

Together with the national government agencies such as the PNP, DILG, DENR, COMELEC, NIA, PhilPost, Telecom, Philippine Army, TVI Resource Development, Liga ng mga Barangay and LGU officials along with the rank and file employees. (BAG-PIO Bayog/CAL/PIA9)
