by Gideon C. Corgue

PAGADIAN CITY , September 18 (PIA) – “For the Philippines to be progressive, our local governments must be strong and progressive,” emphasized Vice President Jejomar Binay during yesterday’s 60th anniversary celebration of Zamboanga del Sur at the Grand Arena, Provincial Government Center, Dao here.

Addressing an estimated crowd of 5,000, Binay who was guest of honor and speaker during the event said “a progressive town is the result of a progressive province, and a progressive province will build a strong and progressive country.”

Binay lauded the ZamboSurians for being united. We should remember that we have nothing to be proud of if we are not united and if unity did not prevail among ZamboSurians. That oneness and unity from our municipality and province is the source of strength of the entire country),” Binay said.

Binay advised the local government to continue to hasten infrastructure developments and showcase the rich culture and tradition of the province.

The vice president also encouraged the local officials to keep on pouring more developments in the province and to establish private and public partnership, saying that the initiative will further strengthen the foundation of sustainable development and change in a locality. (JPA/GCC/PIA9-Zambosur)
