DTI-ZDS advises the public on investment scams

PAGADIAN CITY, July 10 - - - The proliferation of offers to invest in certain business schemes in the city has come to the attention of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) provincial office.

Provincial Director Ma. Socorro M. Atay said DTI-ZDS advises the public to beware of scams such as pyramid scams, sales scams, text scams and other similar modus operandi. Scammers are very convincing that one gets carried away with their glib talk.

Here are some lines that one should watch out for:

1.  “ Your profit is guaranteed.”
2.  “ It’s an amazingly high rate of return.”
3.  “ There’s no risk.”
4.  “ You are stupid if you let this opportunity pass.”
5.  “ This offer is only available today.”
6.  “ I’ll get you the paper work later.”
7.  “ Just make your check out to me.” or
8.  “ Just deposit your money in this account.”

Ms. Atay said when you hear these lines, most definitely, it’s a SCAM! One should then be VERY CAUTIOUS and better IGNORE them. We should always be firm in saying NO and never be persuaded with the smooth talk of these people.  Remember that anything that seems or sounds too good to be true usually is.

We should bear in mind that people do not become instant millionaires for no reason at all and most certainly do not win it in the same manner. Millionaires do hard work to earn their millions and not just earn it with a snap of their fingers. Remember that money is earned with hard work and for a longer period of time, not just overnight.
